Luca was a friendly firefly, who kept forgetting things. One day Luca’s mummy told him, ‘ Luca, I’ve packed your lunch for you, but today instead of the right pocket of your bag, I’ve put it in the left ok? Don’t forget!’ And she sent Luca off to school, waving goodbye standing on the pavement.

Luca smiled, waved goodbye and went off happily – wiggling his wings under his little school bag. Once he got to school, guess what, he forgot which door to enter from, there were 2 doors to enter from and Luca, just couldn’t remember! Then some of his classmates entered from the left door and Luca breathed a huge sigh of relief! ‘Oh..thank goodness!’ Said Luca, and moved through the entrance.

Luca smiled to himself as he fluttered calmly and went and sat on his seat. The first class had almost begun, when a classmate – Missy J came and tapped him on his shoulder, ‘ yesss..??’ Said Luca, turning around..Missy J, who knew Luca couldn’t remember much, smiled and leaned close to his face, ‘ you’re in my seat Luca..’

‘ Oh..’ Luca laughed and his firefly light came on, Missy J, moved Luca’s bag pack to the empty seat behind hers. Luca moved back sheepishly ‘ of course I remember, he said..’ now came lunch break. Luca moved to the lunch table to bring out his lunch, and what he did next, we all can guess! He looked in the wrong pocket – the right one! And then Luca, who was super hungry, got a little upset – ‘ Hmmm…that’s strange..’ and then Luca decided, ‘ I will think super hard…’ and so he did a countdown – ‘ 3, 2, 1…’ and with a super serious expression tried to remember what his mummy had told him..he remembered her face, hmm..her hair looked different, he remembered her expression – eyes a little wide and forehead creasing, but what was she saying!?

Luca closed his eyes and tried to remember her words..’ the leffftttt pocket..yesssss!!’ He squealed with joy, and dug into his bag pack’s left pocket – and yes – there it was! His tiffen box! He opened it and ate his tiffen smiling! The rest of the day went well, and peacefully. Luca tried to memorise what all the teachers were saying, and the parts he felt stuck – he asked Missy J or other friends for help!

When any of him or his friends had to answer questions, they all just switched on their tiny firefly lights – so the teachers understood! Isn’t that amazing! When the time came to leave for home, the school bell went off – and out came all the little firefly lights in excitement! Luca waved bye to all his friends and left for the school bus!
